Saying “what a year it has been ” has been the understatement and overstatement I think of the year, 2020. The groom, Matt at last nights wedding mentioned that “2020 can go and get ……”, I couldn’t agree more. It’s been a real struggle for some especially those in isolation. Hopefully things get brighter for those who haven’t coped so well.

For me and our family it was a real positive experience. Like everyone else, we bought an espresso machine and started making starters for sourdough bread. It almost made me want to go back to the hospitality industry, I used to be a chef. We found that the key was to keep active, keep busy and stay occupied. It worked, my Bao buns a killer!

When lock down was announced, we were in the middle of photographing a Jewish wedding here in Melbourne, someone mentioned that it’s official, “we’re gong into lock down.” The thought of going into a lockdown didn’t really sink in at first, it almost seemed like a novelty. It was a struggle at first but once we established a routine with the kids, it worked very well.

In terms of weddings here in Melbourne, it was pretty much shut down from the end of March through to November, not one wedding. The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a flurry in terms of the number of weddings photographed, it didn’t take too long to get back into the swing of things, so glad to be back, so happy to be able to see everyone enjoying themselves. It was also a real pleasure to see our couples tie the knot and officiate their commitment to each other, congratulations you beautiful people!

In closing, I hope that you all have a very safe and healthy new year, please stay safe on the roads if you are travelling and I look forward to bumping shoulders with you on the dance floor in 2021

p.s I thought I should put some shots together from 2020 below, as always, enjoy!
