I’m getting to shoot a lot of weddings down by the Yarra river here in Melbourne lately and I’m loving the Australian bush feel. In fact I have another this weekend at Fairfield boat house down by the Yarra.

The one thing I didn’t want to miss was the “Breaking of the Glass” After the breaking of the glass everyone said “Mazel tov!” (“Good Luck”)

All in all it was an extremely spiritual experience and it was a real pleasure to be a part of it! It was not just a celebration about the union of a couple, but a celebration of life!

It has never brought me so much joy to have my little man running up to me with his arms wide open with one intention, to give his father a big hug and kiss. Being a “good” parent is extremely hard and I’m sure Iris and I have aged quite considerably since we have had our three little ones. But as cliche as it sounds we wouldn’t change a thing! Being away from my family for the first time has made me realise one thing. Family is so precious, family is everything, family is where the home is.

My mind is racing a thousand miles as it does during a wedding, I’m switched on and ready to observe and then bang the radio kicks in. It’s 11.00am on the 11th day of the 11th month, 2011. A minute silence for all of those diggers who served . With the boom gate bell clanging away and the Glen Waverley service a blur in front of my face, I sat and thought about all this country is built on and those who have given their time and lives. THANK YOU. The car behind me toots its horn,  back to reality, game on!
